THE MEETING ON TRAWL FISHERIES IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

20160921 TrawlThe SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) as the Regional Facilitation Unit (RFU) of strategies for trawl fisheries bycatch management project (REBYC-II CTI) in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) organized “Southeast Asia Trawl Fisheries Round-table Meeting” on 21 September 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand. There are 47 participants from participating countries (Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam), SEAFDEC/TD, FAO-GEF, relevant private sectors and other agencies participated in the Meeting.  The outputs came up with case studies and good practices of trawl fisheries management in REBYC-II CTI participating countries and policy recommendations for trawl fisheries management in Southeast Asia which is raised up in the back to back regional meeting on the future of trawl fisheries management in Southeast Asia.

TD ORGANIZES TWO WRITE-SHOPS ON SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND FINAL REPORT

20160425 Writeshop REBYCThe SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) organized the Regional Write-shop on Socio-Economic and Final Report from 25-26 and 27-29 April 2016 respectively in Phetchaburi Province, Thailand under the project of REBYC II- CTI. Twenty participants from REBYC-II CTI country (Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam attended in the write-shop. The first write-shop aims to discuss on the draft of a document on the socio-economics of trawl fisheries while the second write-shop came up with comprehensive document that consolidates the achievements of the project in the respective countries.

TD AND PARTNERS ORGANIZE THE EAFM LEAD MATERIALS WRITESHOP

130715 EAFM Writshop13 July 2015, Bangkok: “The Ecosystem Approach for Fisheries Management Leaders Executives and Decision makers Materials Writeshop” is organized from 13 to 17 July 2015 at Bangkok, Thailand by the SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) in collaboration with REBYC-II CTI project, BOBLME and NOAA, aim to discuss the development of Leaders Executives and Decision makers (LEAD) materials and ways to improve the E-EAFM course being expended across the Region. A total of 15 person who are the LEAD Working Group from SEAFDEC, NOAA, and BOBLME participate in the Writeshop. The Writeshop will come up with a set of final draft EAFM LEAD materials and pre-testing mechanism and updated E-EAFM materials and process for updating course manuals.
